Swimming pool decarbonisation

Gas-fired heating replaced with air source heat pumps

The ASHP plant provides heating for the swimming pool and the building, as well as domestic hot water for the high-demand showers. This operational installation is a real-world example of an ASHP system meeting the combined heating and hot-water demands of a busy leisure facility.

Heating

Commercial boiler plant replacement

A hybrid system combining the high-temperature capability of gas-fired plant with the lower-carbon efficiency of an external ASHP. The result is strong performance throughout the year without the capital cost and wider alterations associated with a full ASHP conversion.

Integrated heating distribution and controls

Four hydroboxes connected to a new VRF system generate low-temperature LTHW for radiant panels and connect into the existing ground-floor system. This combines the comfort and flexibility of wet radiant heating with the simplicity and efficiency of VRF.

Pitch heating

Containerised pitch-heating plantroom

A fully containerised LPG boiler plantroom with twin-head pumps and controls. An internal plate heat exchanger separates the boiler and pitch circuits, while a remote control link allows ground staff to adjust pitch-heating setpoints. The same arrangement can be supplied for natural gas or oil, with the container finished in any required colour.

Healthcare water infrastructure

Hospital potable water tanks

New potable water tanks installed to serve the entire hospital while the water system remained live. Carefully planned out-of-hours changeovers avoided disruption, while a new borehole and pump blend borehole water with the mains cold-water supply to reduce mains water costs. The scheme also included an on-site chlorine generator.
